Mother's Day Fun!

This year my students have worked so hard to develop their writing skills. So for Mother's Day we decided to put our skills to work! Each student made a cute little flower pot for their mom! Other then the dry time for the paint they didn't take very long to make and we were able to make them with supplies we had in our classroom.

Materials: All you need to make these adorable gifts is a big piece of construction paper, a small piece of paper, markers, and paint. (And of course the always necessary kindergarten supplies-glue and scissors :) )

Steps:
1. Have the students cut out flower pots (out of the smaller paper) and glue it to the big construction paper. (I had the flower pot traced so all they students had to do was cut it out)
2. Write on the pot with marker, "I love my mom because..." and have your students finish the sentence starter.
3. Using green finger paint, have the student put a green hand print above the pot.
4. Using finger paint, have the student make the petals by making thumb prints on their picture.
5. When it is all dry take a marker and write, "Happy Mother's Day!"'on the top.
